List of Spider-Man episodes |
"Rocket Racer" is the fifth episode from the third season of the Spider-Man, also marking the thirty-second episode.[1]
Contents |
Spider-Man finds himself in competition with himself over Felicia. Meanwhile, Jackson Weele leads a gang of thieves armed with jet-pack technology. Weele has developed a large gyro-wheel in which he uses to plunge through the city. Robert Farrell tries to help his ailing mother by using science and the gang's technology to arm himself as the "Rocket Racer". Spider-Man and Robert team up to bring down the Big Wheel. They succeed after electrocuting it by fusing two wires.
In the comics, Robert Farrell obtained his Rocket Racer technology from the Terrible Tinkerer, rather than Jackson Weele.[2] When the Big Wheel appeared several issues later, he had also technology of that of the Terrible Tinkerer.[1]
The episode received poor reviews, citing the unlikeability of the villains Rocket Racer (who later reformed in the comics as he did in this episode), and the Big Wheel.[3] It is often even cited that it is the worst episode of the series. Comparing to "The Spot", which aired later this season.
